Government increases the Panama Canal budget 6%

The Panamanian government approved a budget proposal for the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) for the next fiscal year for $ 3,037.5 million, 6% more than the previous year.

Government indicated, on October 1 of this year the Canal expects a 429.4 million tons record with more than 13,000 transits, including 2,335 neopanamax, which pass through the expansion locks inaugurated in June 2016.

According to the proposed to revenue the budget for 2018 fiscal year, a direct contribution to the National Treasury from de Panama Canal Authority will be of US $ 1,659.2 million and an indirect contribution of US $ 225 million is projected, a source said in a statement.

The AN of Panama approved a budget of $ 2,865.25 million to the ACP for this fiscal year and has guaranteed an increase of $ 7.04 million and a supplementary loan of $ 39.9 million.
