The optimization, planning and new strategies in the hotel sector of Panama are the topics addressed by representatives of tourist accommodation, with the aim of boosting the country as an innovative and competitive destination in the region.

In the third edition of the Congress of Hospitality and Tourism in Panama City, the attendees of the guild highlighted their interest in the development of a sustainable tourism that makes possible the use of resources, as well as the necessary training of its personnel in technology topics and innovation.

Panama's hotel occupancy in the first half of 2017 was 48.6%, a decrease of 1.0% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to an official report by the Panama’s Tourism Authority.

"Our country needs training, so this Congress has been an excellent opportunity for the hotel sector that has increased over the years," said Gustavo Him, manager of the Panama Tourism Authority.

In addition, the Municipality of Panama will address the logistics and planning of the World Youth Day in 2019 and the celebration of the 500 years of the Panama City Foundation.
