QUITO .- The immigration authorities from Ecuador prevented from entering the country and took his passport for several hours to the wife of the Venezuelan political leader Leopoldo López, Lilian Tintori, when he proposed to enter the country to attend a public event.

"They do not want to let us enter to Ecuador. They took our passports and tell us that we have to go back on the first flight to Venezuela. They told me that there is no access, you ca not enter the country,” Tintori said on Twitter.

The activist said it was Ecuador's President Rafael Correa who ordered his expulsion from the country.

The governor of the Ecuadorian province of Guayas, Luis Monge, said that Tintori did not have the necessary documentation to participate in political events in Ecuador and for that reason was not allowed access to the country.
