PARIS. - The French court opened an investigation around worldwide cyber-attacks to computer systems that have been detected in the last hours. In France, it has particularly affected Renault, which decided to suspend the activity in some of its headquarters.
Judicial sources indicated to Efe that the Paris Office of the Attorney General formalized the investigation since yesterday on charges of intrusion into automated data processing systems, obstructing its operation, extortion and attempted extortion.
The research has been delegated to OCLCTIC, the police service specialized in the fight against cybercrime and communication technologies.
Renault acknowledged that the intrusion into its computer systems had an impact on the activity of some plants.
The massive ransomware campaign, an attack in which perpetrators call for money in exchange for free access to privet systems, also affected institutions in more than 100 countries, including Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States, China, Spain, Italy , Vietnam and Taiwan, among others.
