The Cabinet Council will discuss the issue of the participation of the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht in public procurement. The minister of the presidency, Álvaro Alemán, assured that a legal analysis on the controversial case has been requested to the legal direction.
Once the analysis is completed, it will be taken to cabinet discussion that, according to Alemán, could be next week.
The Twelfth Court accepted an apeal from the construction company to certify that it is not disabled to be hired by the state.
During the last three Panamanian governments, Odebrecht obtained contracts for about 9 billion dollars, besides admitting to having paid bribes for more than 86 million.
