The Government of Panama, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, activated the Information Coordination Center (CECODI) in order to assist Panamanians in the areas estimated to be impacted by hurricane Irma.
The Panamanian Foreign Ministry reported that it will be attended to relatives who require information from Panamanian territory.
On the other hand, through a press release, indicated that in order to safeguard the security of the staff, the embassies of Panama in the Dominican Republic and Haiti, they will keep their diplomatic headquarters closed.
Humanitarian Aid from Panama
Following the devastating effects of the hurricane, the Government of Panama has offered humanitarian aid to the affected islands. On Thursday, Panamanian Vice President and Foreign Minister, Isabel De Saint Malo de Alvarado, expressed her solidarity and offered support for the affected areas, as did the Panamanian President, Juan Carlos Varela.
