The Deputy Minister of Commerce, Yu Jianhua, is visiting Panama as part of the bilateral agenda between the two countries in trade, economic and technical cooperation. The deputy minister was received by a commission made up by the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maria Luisa Navarro together with the Acting Minister of Commerce and Industries, Néstor González.
During the meeting, Panama and China reaffirm their interest in advancing the establishment of a negotiating table for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which will strengthen trade exchange between the two countries.
The Chinese delegation has expressed its interest in taking advantage of the logistics platform that Panama represents for the increase of its exports to the countries of the region. Furthermore, Navarro highlighted Panama's interest in strengthening relations, in the transportation, education, energy and humanitarian development sectors.
In addition, Yu and Navarro agreed on the importance of China becoming a strategic ally of Panama in order to strengthen the humanitarian assistance provided by the country through the Regional Logistical Center for Humanitarian Aid under the Panama Coopera National Plan.
