Workers at the National Aqueduct and Sewer Institute raised the strike after signing an agreement with the Executive. The institution had been on strike since October 1.
The Cabinet Council had appointed the Minister of Labor, Luis Ernesto Carles; the Minister of Security, Alexis Bethancourt and the Health Minister, Miguel Mayo, to establish a dialogue with representatives of officials of the National Aqueduct and Sewer Institute IDAAN.
The commission said that "essential basic services linked to the provision of drinking water, health, safety and electricity cannot be interrupted or its operations and administrative operations cannot be affected to the detriment of citizens."
Officials of the institution began a work strike warning that the entity should be endowed with resources. The government reiterated that the IDAAN will not be privatized, so invoking this possibility is only an excuse to keep an unnecessary strike.
