An internal group of the public jail of David burned several objects, in the section of the penal known as La Mata, as a measure of protest for the transfers to the new penitentiary center of Chiriquí.
Armando Medina, general director of the Penitentiary System, reported in his Twitter account that the fire has already been completely suppressed.

The official said that once the situation is controlled, the transfer will continue to the new prison in Chiriquí.
National Police Commissioner Erick Amayo said that about 800 detainees have been transferred to the new site and that 300 people remain in the old prison.
The new center, with capacity for 950 people deprived of freedom, in addition to the personnel that will work there, has a modern infrastructure in penitentiary matters, Medina explained.
