The challenges faced by youths in Latin America and the Caribbean to enter the labor market will be the center of a debate that will bring together legislators from the region and experts from world organizations in Panama, the Parliament reported.

The forum on youth employment, organized by the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament, will be held at the organization's permanent headquarters and will be attended by labor market experts from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the International Labor Organization (ILO).

The meeting will also include members of the committees on Labor Affairs and Social Welfare; Gender Equity, Children and Youth; Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, and Public Services, Consumer and User Protection.

According to ILO projections released in 2016, Latin America and the Caribbean is the region of the world with the highest increase in youth unemployment rate with an index that will reach 17.1% this year.
