In order to seek efficiency in the work and administration operation of the sanitation of Panama Bay, the creation of a new public company has been announced.

This was done by the Executive in his last Cabinet Council, where Health Minister Miguel Mayo was authorized to introduce a bill to the National Assembly for this purpose.

The initiative was supported by Tatiana De Janon, who until now has been coordinator of the Sanitation Program of Panama Bay that works attached to the Ministry of Health and the Institute of National Aqueducts and Sewers.

De Janon explained that the next few days the Minister of Health introduced the bill for debate in the corresponding deputy meetings.

The creation of the new agency does not mean a change in the tariff of the sewer service that is paid in the account of Idaan and that will remain the same, she noted.

The Sanitation Program of Panama was created to build works of this nature only in Panama city; however, due to the increase in sanitary sewerage and sanitation needs in other areas of the country, it has become necessary to strengthen the operative and legal structure program, they explained.

According to the Council of Ministers, the Coordinating Unit is now in charge of monitoring sewage in all areas where the program operates.

The Bay sanitation project also covers the district of Arraiján and La Chorrera.

The new company is in charge of providing the service of operation and maintenance of the current systems and of monitoring the operation of the sewerage in these districts.

The new company will be responsible for the sanitation of the Bay.

Originally the sanitation project is limited to Panama and San Miguelito.

Now it was expanded in Arraiján and La Chorrera. There will be no rate increase for the user.
