Panamanian citizens have presented before the National Assembly (AN) an initiative called “Civil Death”, which would prohibit politicians linked to corruption cases from running for public office.
The permanent disqualification from holding public office would be the goal of the project created by lawyers and law students. “We want to avoid ever appointing and electing by popular vote and cannot exercise through third parties business with the State, we want to completely isolate them,” the attorney and spokesperson, Hermel Rodriguez, said outside the AN.
Hermel added that the law would also prohibit doing business with companies linked to corruption cases.
