PANAMA CITY.- Several sectors of the city of Panama remained lightless because of an explosion that was registered in three transformers of Zone 1 of Condado del Rey.

According to the latest official report, the power grid has been reactivated by 95%.

The explosions were recorded between 6 and 8 pm last Friday, at the National Dispatch Center (CND) of the Electric Transmission Company (Etesa) located in Tumba Muerto.

President Juan Carlos Varela ordered the deployment of security forces to take preventive action and asked the population to make rational use of drinking water, after the impact in the water treatment plant of Chilibre.

Members of the fire department came to the scene and hours later they managed to control the flames.
