In order to make progress on the agenda agreed after her official visit to South Korea and Japan, Vice President and Chancellor Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado shared with the national authorities the results of the solid waste management meetings.
De Saint Malo de Alvarado highlighted the importance of this issue that prioritizes the transformation of waste collection, treatment and final disposal management in Panama as part of the National Waste Management Plan. The Vice President said that they are seeking to implement bilateral technical and economic cooperation programs from Asian countries.
A technical delegation made up by the Ministries of Economy, Health and Environment, as well as the Urban, Household and Sanitation Authority of Panama and the Public Services Authority (ASEP), will analyze the steps to be taken to promote each of the points proposed by the National Management Plan.
The Cleaning Authority, through the Integral Waste Management Plan, promotes a program of sanitation and closure of landfills, which is to eliminate them in the long term, to enable transfer plants and disposal centers for waste.
