BOSTON .- Former NFL player Aaron Hernandez was found dead early morning hanging from his prison cell, where he was serving life imprisonment for muerder, officials at the Souza Baranowski Penitentiary Center in Shirley, Massachusetts, said.
The guards found Hernandez, 27, shortly after 3 in the morning in his cell the Department of Corrections spokesman Christopher Fallon said in a statement.
The New England Patriots' former player was hanged using a sheet that tied it to a cell window, Fallon said.
Hernandez was serving a life sentence with no possibility of parole for her conviction in Odin Lloyd's death in 2013. Lloyd was dating Hernandez's fiancee sister.
