The deployment of US military forces to the border continues, especially since Donald Trump intends to even increase the number of troops to 15,000, in order to prevent the migrant caravan from entering the country and increase the population within its borders.

First, it was assumed that the number of troops would be about 5,200; however, the US president stated that the amount could vary between 10,000 and 15,000 to support the 2,100 troops that are already in the border. Given the fact and the media impact, Defense Secretary James Mattis said these actions are being carried out to provide support to the Security Council of the country and not to do stunts.

"No, we don’t do stunts in this department. We do this following storms, we do this in support of the Homeland Security Secretary (Kirstjen Nielsen), who needs more military help, (...) This is a different aspect of it, but that’s what we are doing," said Mattis in statements collected by EFE.

Given the thousands of immigrants moving to the US border, Trump himself said in the White House that actions would be taken according to the situation, to avoid the violent conflict that occurred in Mexico. "Anybody throwing stones, rocks, like they did to Mexico and the Mexican military, Mexican police, where they badly hurt police and soldiers of Mexico, we will consider that a firearm...", said Trump.

Amid all the border conflict and Trump’s statements, one of the members of the caravan was killed by an alleged rubber bullet that hit his skull last Sunday, during clashes with the authorities in Mexico. He joins Melvin Josue Gomez and Germain Ramirez, Mexican and Guatemalan respectively who also died in the process of traveling to the United States.

In anticipation of what might happen and with the main attention given to the incidents that took place since the beginning of the journey from Honduras, the group of 7,000 immigrants seeking to enter the United States filed a complaint against the United States through the organization Nexus Services, who introduced the measure in a Federal Court in Washington.

This Thursday the news of the complaint was announced, which is mainly addressed to the president of the country, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE), the Department of National Security (DHS) and institutions such as the Customs and Protection Office Border (CBP) or the Immigration and Citizenship Service (USCIS).
