White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said Donald Trump will be on the border with Mexico on Thursday, looking to meet with those affected by the immigration situation and also see first-hand what happens there, in search, perhaps of arguments to declare the national emergency that he recently announced as the main theory in favor of building the dividing wall.
"President Donald Trump will travel to the southern border on Thursday to meet with those on the front line of the national and humanitarian security crisis, and more details will be announced soon", Sanders said on her official Twitter account.
Between the doubt of a construction of concrete or of steel, Trump has the possibility to come up with ideas for the (umpteenth) debate before the Democrats, in search of approving the budget that integrates what according to his perspective, is a matter of " national security ", to the point of causing the closure of the administration for not approving the more than 5 billion dollars requested for that.
Trump's unwavering attitude towards the construction of the wall, which was one of his star electoral promises, and the continued refusal on the part of the Democrats to agree on this issue, has led the Government to be partially closed for 17 days.
Administrative paralysis affects agencies of ten Executive departments, including Transportation and Justice; as well as dozens of national parks, which are usually a major tourist attraction.
Before the trip of Trump, this Monday the Senator Catherine Cortez Masto asked to modify the protocol of detention in the borders to guarantee the safety of the minors, after the death of two children in December.
In a letter sent to the Department of Homeland Security and the Border Patrol Commissioner, the Senator from the State of Nevada addressed Secretary of Homeland Security, Kirstjen Nielsen, and Border Patrol Commissioner, Kevin McAleenan, to request a complete evaluation of the processes carried out at the borders and thus avoid future tragedies.
Cortez Matso sent her letter while there is an investigation the deaths of Felipe Alonzo-Gomez, 8, and Jakelin Caal Maquin, 7, occurred in separate events in December, when both children were in the custody of the Border Patrol Commissioner Office.
"While the circumstances surrounding these deaths are pending investigation, what we currently know about them is that they occurred in the custody of the CBP and is truly worrying", said Cortez Masto.
"Children and families in the custody of the government, regardless of their immigration status, should be treated with dignity and receive maximum care", the senator continued.
Making a called to the migration agencies, Matso downplayed the wall Trump requested, the national emergency and any other difference that exists between Democrats and Republicans, even within the same Republicans as the friction showed Romney and the US president few days ago.
In the absence of knowing when the administration will open, the differences between Trump and the Democratic caucus are still more standing than ever, while the president boasts that thanks to him "the war with North Korea was avoided", referring to the meetings he has held with the maximum leader of the Asian country, the same that few months ago threatened to operate missiles against the United States.
