Last December 13, the first phase of the selection process for the best CONCACAF 2017 players was completed. The Panamanians Jaime Penedo and Román Torres were the most voted by the fans via internet, as the best goalkeeper and best defense, respectively.
The votes of the fans have a weight of 33% of the final result that will be obtained after the selection of two other groups: Media and coach heads along with the captains of the national teams.

This Sunday, December 17 at 12 midnight the vote to choose the Latino Player of the Year in Major League Soccer (MLS) closes. Román Torres is still a reference for Panamanian football after being part of the four finalists of this award that will be announced on Monday, December 18. Together with Torres, the Paraguayan Miguel Almirón, the Honduran Alberth Elis and the Venezuelan Josef Martínez compete.
