Rosa Montezuma won the Miss Panama 2018 title and became the new representative of the Isthmus in the next Miss Universe contest after being crowned in the final competition of the event held at the Roberto Durán Arena in Panama City. Solaris Barba was named the second runner up and will represent Panama at Miss World. Barba wore the sash representing the province of Herrera.
Montezuma is 25 years old and is the first representative of an indigenous region that is crowned Miss Panama in 51 years of history of the beauty pageant.
Other runners up during the night were Diana Lemos from San Jose Island who will represent Panama at Miss Earth and Shirel Ortiz that will represent Panama Centro at Miss International.
This is the first time that Panama chose an indigenous beauty as its representative to the Miss Universe contest.
The event number 51, held last night at the Roberto Durán arena, on the eastern outskirts of the capital, concluded with the election as Miss Panama 2018 by Rosa Iveth Montezuma, representative of the indigenous and beauty districts of Ngäbe Buglé origin, after a competition among 20 candidates.

She is Ambassador of the Ngäbe Buglé Culture since 2017, Miss Comarcas 2018 and director of the Children Camp of the Muna Region 2015-2019.
