The Icaro Panama 2018 Film Festival will open next Friday in the Panamanian capital with the screening of the Costa Rican film "Abrázame como antes" (Hug me as before), which was awarded at the 2017 event, the organizers of the show said today.
"Abrázame como antes", by Jurgen Ureña, was the winning film of the Central American prizes for Best Fiction Feature Film, Best Direction and Best Actress in the last International Icaro Festival in Guatemala, among other international awards.
Ureña’s film will be shown in the University Cinema of the state University of Panama (UP), in the capital.
The previous act of opening will have the participation of high ranking authorities of the University, representatives of the Ministry of Commerce and Industries of Panama (MICI), ambassadors, diplomats, special guests and sponsors.
The jury members Isabella Galvez (Panama), Mariel Bomczuk (Argentina) and Justo Fuentes (Cuba) will announce the decision announcing the Panamanian films that were selected to compete for the best Central American film awards at the XXI Icaro International to be held in Guatemala from November 16 to 24, said Roberto King, organizer of Icaro Panama 2018, to EFE on Monday.
The screenings of the Icaro Panama Festival in the capital will run until Wednesday, September 26, with free admission to the University Cinema of the UP.
