The Cultural Center of Spain-Casa del Soldado (CCE-CdS) opens today the exhibition "Panama in the eyes of Graciela Iturbide", Mexican photographer, as part of the photography circuit FotoSeptiembre 2018.

It is a series of 40 pictures the Mexican photographer took in the 70s in Panama and that are presented for the first time in the country.

In 1974, "when her career as a photographer was just beginning, Graciela Iturbide traveled to Panama for the first time, where she met communities such as El Chorrillo, El Marañón and Curundú in Panama
City, as well as rural villages and indigenous communities," said the CCE-CdS.

"In those places, Iturbide captured spontaneity, beauty and dignity in people of the town, peasants and indigenous, in images of great visual force," CCE-CdS added.

The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the City of Knowledge Foundation and the Art & Culture Foundation. Curators Walo Araújo and Mónica Kupfer have made the photo selection.
