Sinaproc has reported extreme UV index in areas such as: Darién, Comarca Emberá, Coclé, Colón, Herrera, Veraguas, Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro and Comarca Ngobe Bugle.
According to the American Cancer Society, between 10 o'clock in the morning and 4 o'clock in the afternoon, UV radiation has a higher incidence in the skin.
People become affected not only by the intensity of the radiation but by the time of sun exposure. In extreme conditions, according to Sinaproc, the reddening of the skin caused by UV radiation can take 6 to 10 minutes.
