RIO DE JANEIRO.- Vinicius and Tom, the Olympic and Paralympic pets of Rio 2016, have turned into a best-seller into the official souvenirs stores that are splashed by the city.
The pets honors the musicians Vinicius de Moraes and Tom Jobim, the Bossa Nova teachers who composed "Garota de Ipanema", one of the most listened songs in the history.
Vinicius, in yellow, symbolizes the mixture of the animals of Brazil, and Tom, the pet of the Paralympic athletes, in blue and green, represents the great variety of the flora of the country.
Vests, sandals, caps, glasses and keychains are added to most bought souvenirs, together with the traditional Olympic "pins".
The stuffed pets can be acquired by approximately 33 dollars, a price similar of the vests with its image or with the logo of Rio 2016, the caps can be bought between 15 and 30 dollars, and glasses and keychains can be acquired from 10 dollars.
The souvenirs are located in both official shops installed inside the Olympic park and in Copacabana's beach, a space of 1.800 square meters and that, according to the organization, expects to receive an average of 20.000 daily visitors until the end of the world appointment.
The organization has commercialized approximately 12.000 products related to the Games for which expects to collect more than 400 million dollars. EFE
