16 trafficking networks dismantled in Panama

Rodrigo García, executive secretary of the National Commission against Human Trafficking of Panama’s Ministry of Public Security, reported that since 2014 to the present date, 16 networks dedicated to this crime have been dismantled.

The official assured that the authorities are carrying out the pertinent investigations and with certainty of punishment for those who commit this scourge. So far more than 190 people have been rescued and another 50 have been prosecuted, the victims being mostly women.

It was known that those involved are mainly foreigners and among the most frequent modalities in the area are sexual and labor trafficking.
