The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, today made a courtesy visit to the Foreign Ministry of Panama, where he addressed current regional issues with the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luis Miguel Hincapié.

"At the meeting, the Acting Minister @LMHincapie and the Secretary General of the OAS, @ Almagro_OEA2015, addressed the challenges faced by the American States, and their vision on the political and democratic current regional issues," the Foreign Ministry wrote on Twitter.
The meeting was propitious "to renew the commitment of Panama with the hemispheric region, especially concerning democracy, human rights and development," said a brief official statement, which highlighted Almagro and Hincapié "agreed on the importance of recognizing the role that each international actor represents for peacekeeping". According to official information, Almagro is in Panama to participate tonight in a private business event in which he will speak on "Freedom as a foundation for Democracy". Source-EFE
