After compliance with the citizen participation process and hearing the merits expressed by each officer to hold the position in the Supreme Court of Justice, the Credentials Committee recommended the plenary session to approve the appointments for chief and alternate magistrates.
The National Assembly briefed that the approval of recommending the ratification of Ana Lucrecia Tovar de Zarak as a judge of the First Civil Chamber and of Zuleyka Moore, as a judge of the Second Chamber, had 5 votes in favor and 4 against.
Magistrate Cossú was unanimously recommended in the First Civil Chamber, as well as Luis Camargo as alternate judge of the First Civil Chamber; both officials had the 9 votes of the commissioners.
Moreover, Katia Di Bello, with 6 votes in favor and 3 abstentions, is recommended to hold the position as alternate judge of the Third Judicial Chamber.
The President of the Credentials Committee, Luis Eduardo Quirós, said "that the process of consideration of magistrates' appointment has been unprecedented with the broad citizen and media participation," the National Assembly reported on Twitter.
Deputy Quirós also informed that the next step of the Credentials Committee will be to draft the resolutions with the relevant recommendations, which will subsequently be submitted to the legislative plenary session, according to local media.
