The defense of Luis Cucalón, former Director General of Revenue, is prepared to demonstrate “to the eyes of the country” the innocence of his client, said the spokeswoman of the Cucalón family, Carmen Boyd Marciacq. Boyd said that within the file there are inconsistencies that will be exposed during the hearing scheduled for Monday 18 at the First Criminal Circuit Court.
“The legal team of Mr. Cucalón has studied every page of the file and based on that established the defense strategy to follow”, said Boyd, who reiterated that despite the fact that the health of the former director of the DGI is relapsing once again, they trust that on Monday the hearing can be given and, above all, that his innocence be proven.
The defense alleged that Cucalón does not have the prescription drugs, oxygen tank, nor adequate food for recovery.
Boyd added that Judge Agueda Rentería's decision to hold the closed–door hearing is unfortunate since it is an opportunity for her administration as justice administrator not to be questioned every time Cucalón's defense had to go to a higher instance to get a court order to Legal Medicine and the medical evaluation.
“We must remember that Judge Renteria was asked twice to order the evaluation and in not doing so we had to go to the Second High Court, apart from than that we have observed that she did not take into account the recommendations of the doctors”, Boyd said.
