The envelopes with the proposals of the four consortia that bid in the tender for the construction of a "green" convention center in western Panama, with a reference price of 12.27 million dollars, have already been opened and an evaluating commission must select the winner.
The Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) reported today that the envelopes with the proposals were opened on Wednesday, and that the Boquete Development Consortium, formed by the Rapiparedes Centroamericana Building S.A. and Constructora MECO S.A.), and the Project-ECI Consortium (Projects, Execution and Control of Works, S.A. and El Corte Inglés, S.A) were the consortiums that delivered them.
Also the Construction Management Group Inc. and the Western Convention Center Consortium (Conconcreto Internacional, S.A. and Gestión Territorial, S.A.) delivered theirs as well, indicated the information of the ATP.
These groups participate in the tender for the best value for the study, design, construction, and equipment and commissioning of the Convention Center in the Western Region, in the district of Boquete, province of Chiriquí, bordering Costa Rica.
"The Evaluation Commission will verify the faithful fulfillment of the requirements, design proposals and weighting methodology, and will make a technical report in which it will award the company that obtains the highest score," said the ATP without announcing a date for it.
The work, which has a reference price of 12,272,727.27 dollars, is a Government promise, which will benefit the economy of the entire province and will be unique in its "green category" class, with which conservation is sought of the environment and expand the tourist offer of the area, said the head of the ATP, Gustavo Him.
The ATP "has the vision to leave the project awarded and start construction next year," when the country will hold elections for a new government, who will be in charge of finalizing it, added Him.
The Green Convention Center of Boquete will have a total closed construction area of 6,000 square meters, with a capacity for 2,000 people.
The work includes an amphitheater, business center, conference rooms, exhibition hall, meeting and event rooms, restaurant, 300 parking lots, green areas and a central square, according to official information.
