Through information from Panamanian Attorney General, it was learned that the businessman Ricardo Francolini was confined since the Public Prosecutor's Office considers that there are compelling reasons for the case in which he is being investigated.

Francolini who volunteered before the 7th Anticorruption Prosecutor said through social networks that the decision is nothing more than an action with direct link to national policy.

"I have shown my face as always and today again, I become the victim of an orchestrated action against Cambio Democrático (CD) and the members of the party that are still loyal to Ricardo Martinelli," he wrote.

Carlos Carrillo, Francolini's defense lawyer, also confirmed the arrest, while his political ally from the CD Party, Luis Eduardo Camacho, sentenced in the same terms as his friend who "voluntarily went to AVESA's dungeon today. They immediately ordered detention. They want to avoid him being nominated in the presidential primary of the CD; they will have to imprison all the 'martinelistas' to prevent one from running away."

The case dates back to 2015, when Ramón Diez Becciu filed the complaint on behalf of Marelisa Quintero de Stanziola, Superintendent of the Securities Market and is associated, according to the Public Prosecutor's Office, with money laundering for the transfer of 250 thousand dollars from the Jal Offshore investment account in Financial Pacific (FP) through the company Goldline Overseas Business SA.

In the judicial file Francolini is not alone; 17 people accompany him as indicated, among which six former directors of FP, former vice-president Felipe Pipo Virzi and businessman Cristóbal Salerno are.
