Government authorizes purchase of $5 million for medicines and inputs for the HST

PANAMA CITY.- The Council of Cabinet authorized the purchase of 5 million dollars in medicines and inputs, by an exceptional procedure, to supply Santo Tomás Hospital  (HST), that is in a crisis of health.

The acquisition of medicines and inputs was authorized until December 31, 2016, and there must be done according to the process parameters established in the Law 1 of 2001 and its regulation, in order to guarantee the quality, the safety and the efficiency of the medicines and medical inputs to being acquired for the patients of Santo Tomás Hospital.

This purchase will allow to improve and to guarantee the supply of medicines and inputs in this nosocomio, said minister of Health Miguel Mayo.

General Comptroller will supervise the purchases that are done under this procedure.
