The Panamanian National Aeronaval Service (Senan) reported today that in coordination with the Costa Rican National Coast Guard Service, it confiscated 1,375 packets of cocaine, in an anti-narcotics action carried out in international waters of the Pacific coast.

The confiscation of more than one ton of cocaine occurred in the framework of the so-called "Shield Operation", with the support of Colombia and the United States. as part of the strengthening of the "Southern Triangle" strategy, the Senan said in a statement.

The Costa Rican Coastguard troops received information from the Senan, following an illicit maritime traffic alert, which helped them locate and secure a satellite buoy with the illicit substance packages in the southern Pacific perimeter, 55 nautical miles from the port of Golfito in Costa Rica.

The packages with the drug were transferred to the Coast Guard station of Golfito, where a total of 1,375 cocaine packages were counted, according to a Senan statement that does not specify the date of the seizure.
