"In recent days, the government of President Nicolás Maduro asked the president of the Dominican Republic for a dialogue between Panama and Venezuela to find a way out of these differences. In this regard, in the framework of a scheduled visit of Vice President Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado to the Dominican Republic framed in the Intersectoral Regional Agenda on Social and Inclusive Protection 2030, President Juan Carlos Varela asked the Panamanian Chancellor to attend the invitation of President Medina," the statement said.

In the Dominican Republic, the meeting was held between De Saint Malo de Alvarado and Wilmar Castro Soteldo, a member of Nicolás Maduro's cabinet. The meeting was moderated by Dominican Chancellor Miguel Vargas. From here I send you greetings President of Panama, you were my friend; we were friends. Let’s solve it between you and me. There was a secret meeting, on a Caribbean island. The President of Panama sent a delegation and I sent another delegation and they failed to reach the solution. I already had a formula for the solution. Tareck (Vice President of Venezuela) is a witness but the person who headed the delegation of Panama came to insult our delegation, came to sully it and did not want to solve it. I have solutions to reestablish everything, regularize it turn the page. President of Panama take action on the matter. I'm ready. If it is necessary that we both meet, let’s do it"
