The Tourism Authority of Panama (ATPE) said today it has opened the tender for the design and construction of a convention center in the province of Chiriquí, on the border with Costa Rica, with a reference price established at 12.2 million dollars.
This is the Convention Center of the Western Region, in the district of Boquete, and the tender includes preliminary studies, design and construction, including basic furniture, equipment, sketch and construction of the parking area, landscaping, clothing and delivery of the drawings "as built".
Interested companies can enter the Panama Shopping portal to know the specifications of this project, and proposals will be received until August 21, said the official source.
According to the Project Management Office of the ATP, the convention center will have a total closed construction area of 6,000 square meters, with a capacity for 2,000 people.
The work includes an amphitheater, business center, conference rooms, exhibition hall, event rooms, restaurant, 300 parking lots, green areas and central square.
The ATP stressed it seeks to establish a center that hosts multiple conventions with emphasis on ecological issues.
This, according to the entity, "would give recognition to the province of Chiriquí as an important eco-tourism site, create sources of work and promote the sustainability of natural resources and new forms of work and business".
The development of the work would expand the tourist offer that Boquete has in adventure tourism, nature, culture and gastronomy, and that in addition to benefiting the province of Chiriquí the positive impact would reach the provinces of Bocas del Toro and Veraguas, according to official information.
