The National Immigration Service will carry out the procedure "from scratch" to those foreigners who were notified about the cancellation of their provisional residence permits after detecting that fraudulent documentation was provided in their application, an official source told EFE.
Those who can carry out the procedure are those included in a list that was published through the Official Gazette, edict 05-2018 and 07-2018, in which the first edict canceled 470 foreigners’ visas and the second edict, 250, said a representative of the entity.
This occurs, after last May, the authorities detected false data in the applications such as the amount of fees in the Social Security card, enrollment in payroll with companies where there is no employment relationship, detailed salaries that do not match those of the individual account, among others.
Panama has hardened immigration controls since last year after seeing the flow of thousands of undocumented Latin Americans and beyond the continent, the vast majority seeking to continue their travel to the United States.
In 2017, a total of 5,549 foreigners left Panama on the orders of the National Immigration Service, since they remained in the country irregularly or worked without the corresponding visa, said the authority last January.
