PANAMA CITY.- Panama celebrates this December 8 in across the territory the Mother´s Day, coinciding with the festivity of the Immaculate Concepcion.

The Mother´s day in Panama is a National Holiday, an important date by the Panamanian people, in which honoring yields itself to all the women and mothers of the country.

Acts of honoring are organized in all the colleges and public institutions of the country, and the mothers receive all kinds of gifts, from flowers or chocolates, to poems or thank-you letters.

The first time that was celebrated the Mother's Day in Panama was A May 11, 1924, on initiative of the Club Rotary, being established as national bank holiday by means of a Decree approved by the President Belisario Porras.

The offer of the change from date to December 8 was carried out by the First Lady of the Republic, Hercilia de Arosemena in 1930.

On this day, several personalities of entertainment, politicians, public institutions, athletes, among others, have sent their congratulations to the mothers by social networks.
