The 2019 general elections in Panama will be held today, Sunday May 5.
In this consultation the president and vice president of the Republic, deputies to the Central American Parliament, deputies to the National Assembly, mayors, corregimiento representatives and councilors will be elected, all with their respective alternates.
Seven political parties legally constituted by the Electoral Tribunal of Panama will participate in the elections: Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD), Popular Party (PP), Nationalist Republican Liberal Movement (MOLIRENA), Panameñista Party, Democratic Change (CD), Frente Amplio por la Democracia (FAD) and Partido Alianza. In addition, free-candidate candidates will be participating for all elected positions.
Panama lacks the second round option, so the final results will be known today in the elections.
In a country with some 4 million inhabitants, more than 2 million 757 thousand are registered to go to the polls today to elect president, vice president, the 71 deputies of the National Assembly, the Central American Parliament and the mayors, councilors and other authorities municipal.
