The president of Panama, Juan Carlos Varela, will participate in the meeting of heads of State and Government of the Central American Integration System (SICA) to be held in Belize, an official source reported today.
Together with Varela, the Panamanian vice-president and chancellor, Isabel De Saint Malo de Alvarado, will participate in the appointment of heads of State of SICA in Belize, a source from the Government of Panama told Acan-Efe.
Panamanian Deputy Foreign Minister, Luis Miguel Hincapié, is already in Belize at the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of SICA, preliminary of the LII meeting of heads of State and Government of this regional entity to be held on Friday, said the informant .
For this meeting of the Heads of State and Government of SICA, Guatemala is expected to receive from the Government of Belize the pro tempore presidency of the organization for a period of six months, according to official information.
The SICA, constituted in 1991, is composed of the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Belize, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Panama, and has 27 regional and extra-regional observer countries.
