PANAMA CITY.- Doctors of Santo Tomás Hospital decided to write a letter to the Secretary of Health, Michael Mayo, in which they warn him that if not given a solution to the shortage of resources in one week, they will go on a strike.
“Just like they gave a solution to the problem of the A(H1N1) vaccines, that were bought in a direct way, likewise we know and are sure that there are institutions that can buy resources in a direct way for Santo Tomás Hospital," said doctor Marcel Penna, spokesman of the doctors.
Penna informed that the letter will be published in a national printed media. Doctors will also request the state of emergency declaration for the hospital.
"This hospital is in a critical situation and if we do not give it a solution, not across the Law of contracting; not across the organisms of offhand buying, but across an extraordinary purchase of what we need we think that it is the only solution", he said.
