In a day of surprises, the leaders of the Spanish League, Barcelona and Real Madrid lost their unbeaten streak since the start of the 2018-2019 season.

The Catalán team could do nothing against Club Deportivo Leganés, the team that was last in the standings and on the paper, was to be another victim of Barca power, to the point that Ernesto Valverde took the opportunity to make rotations.

At least that was how it looked in the 12th minute, when Philipe Coutinho opened the scoring by controlling a ball outside the penalty area to leave goalkeeper Iván Cuéllar with no opportunities. Lionel Messi had two more chances; one of them struck the crossbar, which silenced the stadium.

However, the entry of Munir El Haddadi for Luis Suarez and Thomas Vermaelen for Jordi Alba did not carburize the Barca machinery, which was diluted as the minutes passed and opened the opportunity for the Leganés comeback.

In just two minutes came the first course victory for Leganés; in the 52nd through Nabil El Zhar, who took advantage of an oversight of the defense to nod at pleasure in the goal area and put the tie. 60 seconds later, Oscar Rodríguez took advantage of an error in clearance by Gerard Piqué to score for the victory.

It did not fare better for Real Madrid, also as a visitor that lost in a landslide 3-0 against Seville, who believed in its possibilities and prevailed to the present champion of the Champions League.

The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán stadium saw a grown Seville, who gave no options to the “meringues”, and who went to rest with the victory in their pocket. The counterattacks were effective, both in the first and in the second goal, both scored by André Silva in the minutes 17 and 21. Both plays were started by Jesús Navas and taken advantage of by the striker.

The third came in the 39, a pass to the penalty area that found Wissam Ben Yedder unmarked to beat Courtois without inconvenience.

Sergio Ramos and Marcelo must be passing the hangover of the delivery of The Best Awards, Raphael Varane did little to help and Casemiro did not look either in control of the game or in the recovery in the middle of the pitch.

Real Madrid lost a lot: the possibility of assuming the leadership of the league, the image of a compact team and with much depth in the bench, and also Marcelo, who was injured to leave his team with ten players.
