Germany's Angelique Kerber and Serbia's Novak Djokovic were crowned champions at the Wimbledon Open after defeating American Serena Williams and South African Kevin Anderson in the men's and women's finals.

Kerber prevented Serena from adding the Grand Slam title number 24 of her career, which would equal Margaret Court as the most successful woman in majors. And in addition to her third Grand Slam, she became the first German to win at the All England Club since Steffi Graf did it in 1996.

The German player won 6-3 and 6-3 in just over an hour, in a match in which Williams committed more than 20 unforced errors and did not know how to get back into rhythm in the game

It was a one-way final, in which Kerber gave no truce to the North American to add a new trophy to her showcase.

With the victory, the German tennis player climbed six places in the world ranking and is now the fourth in the world, but the major winner was Serena, who climbed 153 positions to reach rank number 28.

The men's final was a bit more disputed, especially in the third set, in which Anderson put Nole in trouble, but did not find a way to reverse the disadvantage of two sets against.

The result: a victory by 6-2, 6-2 and 7-6 of Djokovic to win his fifth Wimbledon title, something already predicted by the specialists after his victory over Rafael Nadal in the semifinals of the tournament.

Anderson, who had two blows to five sets against Roger Federer and John Isner, arrived without strength at the London final, with emergency treatment by a physiotherapist at dawn on Saturday due to intense pains in his feet, resulting from the wear suffered in the last hours.
