A total of 18 young players, led by world captain Román Torres, will face Venezuela in a friendly match on September 11, announced thePanamanian soccer federation (Fepafut) today.

The substitute coach of the Panamanian national team, Gary Stempel, called several youths from the local tournament and seven countries that participated in the 2018 World Cup (Michael Amir Murillo, Fidel Escobar, Román Torres, Anibal Godoy, José Luis Rodríguez, Edgar Yoel Bárcenas and Gabriel Torres).

One of the calls is to goalkeeper Luis "Manotas" Mejía, who plays in the Uruguayan team El National and who the previous coach, the Colombian Hernán Darío Gómez, refused to call despite his outstanding work in Uruguayan soccer.

"Likewise, coach Stempel has called four players (Ángel Orelién, Kevin Galván, Guillermo Benítez and Marcos Allen) who will debut on the Panamanian nationsl team, while the rest have, at some point, worn the national uniform," Fepafut said in a release.

Training begins on September 3 at the Rommel Fernández national stadium with the players who play in the tournament of the Panamanian Soccer League (LPF).
