The Organizing Committee for the 24th Central American and Caribbean Games Panama 2022 advances in defining the areas to build the infrastructures, as well as the technical and financial details to hold the event without inconveniences.
At this first meeting between the Minister of the Presidency, Álvaro Alemán, the president of the Panamanian Olympic Committee (COP), Camilo Amado, and the rest of the members of the Committee, there were made the first projections about the general requirements of the games, the budget for the committee to start working, as well as the marketing proposal, among other things.
The president of the COP said: “We need low-magnitude infrastructures, for example, a specific area for athletics, swimming pools that meet the new dimensions required internationally and some sports stadiums like the Roberto Durán arena, which in the end will be used for cultural and other events”.
Panama City was selected to host the 24th Central American and Caribbean Games in February last year in the framework of the General Assembly of the Central American and Caribbean Sports Organization held in Barranquilla, Colombia. It will be the third time in its history, after hosting the games held in 1938 and 1970.
