The training of the Panamanian football team are still carried out at the Rommel Fernández stadium, where the team will bid farewell to their fans on May 29 in a friendly against Northern Ireland to face the 2018 World Cup Russia.

The players’ physical work, who have been incorporated to the training sessions, the tactical work and soccer tests were added in a reduced space, to finish improving the strengths they will require in the World Cup.

Suddenly, Rolando Blackburn and Ismael Díaz look like the main attacking players.

In the last few days, Armando Cooper, a player from the University of Chile, joined the team, who dismissed the fact that his lack of rhythm will not affect his performance with the national team in the World Cup.

Cooper, who did not have many minutes with the austral team, told EFE that he always complies when he wears the shirt of the national team.

"I can’t explain why the lack of minutes, many of my teammates either, but here I am, being with the national team is the most important thing, I feel good without any pain and I think that when I'm with the team I show that I'm fine and in good shape," he said.

Cooper was clear in saying that he always goes out to "compete" and "win" not to take experience.

As for the rivals of Panama (Tunisia, England and Belgium) he said that he takes them with the same seriousness, adding that they must believe they can win to increase the chances of advancing in the tournament despite being debutants.

A topic that could throw some obscurity to the preparation of Panama are the continuous rumors coming from Ecuador, according to which coach Hernán Darío "Bolillo" Gómez would have reached an agreement to be the Ecuadorian team’s coach in the next World Cup.

Gómez has acknowledged in the past that he has had contacts with the Ecuadorian Football Federation, but has not confirmed the arrival of an agreement on the matter. However, in an interview with EFE, the strategist left open the possibility of staying in Panama: "I have a contract, I have to finish the World Cup well and then I can talk about that topic (contract). We must not stop thinking about the future, towards the other World Cup in Qatar," he said.

Panama will bid farewell to the Panamanian fans on May 29 against Northern Ireland at the Rommel Fernandez stadium, and then will face Norway in Oslo on June 6, already in the final stretch of preparation for Russia 2018.
